In the beginning of the year, I decided that I wanted to make a goal for myself to only read books by female authors this entire year. It seemed appropriate in early January, and feels even more appropriate with each book I read. They’re not all feminist manifestos (though there are some in there) but each one speaks to me in a way that I’m finding I need to be spoken to at the time.
Here are all of the books I’ve read so far this year!
Bloom by Estee Lalonde
Love Warrior by Glennon Doyle Melton
Prosperity Pie by S.A.R.K
The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher
The Monster Within by Barbara Almond
Milk & Honey by Rupi Kaur
The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown
Wild by Cheryl Strayed
Shrill by Lindy West
That catches us up to the present, and now here are the books on the docket for the next few months!
The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a Fuck
Embrace by Taryn Brumfitt
Dark Places by Gillian Flynn
Dear Ijeawele, or a Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Carry On, Warrior by Glennon Doyle Melton
It’s Okay to Laugh (Crying is Cool, Too) by Nora McInerny
That’s my reading list for the year! I’ve barely scratched the surface of the books I want to read, especially the ones written by female authors so 2018 might be an even longer list 🙂
